SPRING GO TOURNAMENT

Looks like they will be a Spring Tournament per the Houston GO Club Site-->"SPRING TOURNAMENT tentatively schedules for April 28-29, 2007"

Well I guess this means Round Robin at Ziggy's to be able to compete and perform.

1st 6 stone Handi game vs GNU GO

Well I most have improved along the way some how... Because I did what Ramon said to play the PC on a 6stone Handi and I actually WON!, what amazed me was the Game took 20 mins to complete!...

So I know I made silly mistakes, and realize I shouldn't have try to live on top... And Solidify my groups a little better... But hey... Is my 1st game with 6 stones...

How do You Count?

This question Arises once in a while, How do we count Points?, Well Most people don't Realize that they are 4 Methods of doing this....



* Chinese Counting
* Japanese Counting
* Stone Counting Method
* Ing Counting

Which one does our Club USES?

Ziggy's Uses the Japanese


I think the Chinese is better since you don't have to deal with Which Groups are Alive or Dead, but Is a little more Technical. In reality is just a personal decision on what to use, All should give your the Same Result.

4 Questions

On EACH Game you most ASK YOURSELF

The 4 Essential Questions

1.Do you have a weak group?
If yes, reinforce it.

2.Does your opponent have a weak group?
If yes, plan to attack it.

3.Can you make a big territorial move?
If yes, do it.

4.Could your opponent make a big territorial move or does s/he have a big territory?
Try to prevent, destroy or reduce it with appropriate measures.

I put this principle into practice Today, I did improved, but still I need to pay more attention on Reinforcing Weak Groups.

Great turn out today... More people showed up, So Ziggy's is Growing!.

Player Game Record

I generated a Game Record template to be used, If you the reader can create or wants a copy of the original File... Let me know I will be more than willing to sent you one...



Is very simple to use... You place the DATE, NAMES of the PLAYERS, Type of Board use, KOMI and HANDI and then type in the Result...

Later on I will try to do an application that records the collected data into some kind of format... But that is for another day.
